I did it. I got up, checked my weight (down 1 pound for the week), put on work out clothes and got on the treadmill. I only improved my time by 2 seconds, which I find hilarious seeing as I increased my running speed from 5.5 to 6.
Here is how I accomplish my 5K
- My baseline is a walking speed of 3.3, I understand that is a pretty comfortable walk, but that is the speed that a 5K would take exactly an hour to complete.
- My fast walk between running sections is 3.5
- My running speed started at 5.5, and I consistently stayed at 6 this time. Improvement! I will run for one minute and 10 seconds at a time. I have never been a runner, a sprinter yes, but never a runner. My best mile when I was the fittest I've ever been was a solid 9 minutes.
- Mainly I just want to consistently do this once a week no matter what.
Why only 2 Seconds faster?
I increased the speed for my running portions as well as time for my rest (walking) between runs. It's hard to convince yourself to run again when you're still out of breath from the last time. Hopefully this week I will improve again.
Thank you to anyone reading. I hope to keep this up and continually improve as time goes on.
